A bit of a resurrection of an old topic, but since  the forum has been pretty active lately, I thought we would start fresh!

What was the biggest boat anchor you ever owned? What was the ball that hit like a bag of marshmallows?

Whatever is the best way to describe the worst ball you ever owned --- an opinionated discussion at its finest! Because, as we know, one man's worst ball is another's best!

Worst ball I ever bought was an Ebonite Vortex V2 Dry...thing hit like a wet washcloth.

Brunswick Wicked Siege is my pick, and I really had to rack my brain for a pick. Most of my bowling ball choices were well thought out and researched. This one was not.

At the time, it was the hot ball of the WSOB and I thought it would be money. Thing wouldn't hook an inch on a house shot. What a hot pile of garbage it turned out to be, the whole Siege lineup, fact.

Bought my first new ball at 16 and didn't buy another new one until I was in my later 20's, but I had a ton in between! It was nice knowing a guy on tour. All I ever paid his equipment he was filtering out was his drill charge which was $20 back then. Anyway the biggest pile of garbage was an AMF Ultra Angle. Back then everyone thought it "wobbled" but Mo Pinel was way ahead of his time and we later found out that was flare and it was a good thing! It still hit like a turd though. The AMF white XS was a close second. Ran down to Toledo on a Friday morning and re-drilled that afternoon. Went to the state tournament and shot a 300 with it my third game. After that it was a boat anchor. The 300 was the only reason I didn't rate it my worst.

IIRC, the whole XS series wasn't very good. Haven't thrown one though.

I never owned an angle that helped me at all.  No matter the color.

I did like the XS II. The red pearl ones. I had two of them. Shot a 289 at Astro throwing one on one lane and one on the other. They were drilled way different. I remember one had a massive weight hole.

The XS I wasn't too bad either. That ball had a knack for leaving stone 8's, but I did well with that ball. Shot a grand score at The Hoinke in singles my first time there.

Not even the original black? That and the blue were the only ones I liked. The grey, the gold (Sorry hail), the plus and the LD were garbage to me. I didn't think the could make a ball any uglier than the gold until they came out with the LD.

You just don't know how to throw them.  😉

Just finished up one league throwing only Angles (and occasionally my Ebonite Thunderbolt) and not only won the league, but averaged 222.48 for the season.

As much as I love my gold Angles, the black is a better ball...seems to hit/carry a little better.  The Gold is great when there's more oil though.  The grey doesn't really serve much of a purpose these days and I've never had great luck with the blue or purple.

Ooooooooohhhhhh......purple. Forgot about that one. I liked that better than the blue.

The Thunderbolt....great ball. The Firebolt was an awesome ball too.

I have had a lot of dogs over the years, more than I can remember. The thing is every bad ball has worked for someone somewhere. I can think of 3 balls I owned that I shot 300s with, and were worthless to the point I got rid of them within a month.

Brunswick Total Inferno

Another bowler (PBA guy) told me he was getting rid of a lot of equipment that was used for about 40 games only and asked me if I wanted a free bowling ball.  I agreed (why not?).  The ball he gave me looked like it had been left in the arctic for a few years. The thing had lost almost all its color.  It had almost as much hook as my spare ball, so I gave it away to a guy who had so much hook he couldn't keep anything on the lane. I figured he might be able to keep that one on the right side of the pocket.

The worst ball was Rhino. The ball was from my late stepdad he used to bowled in league in past decades. The ball hit like a crap
