Yesterday night: 167-190-186 I wasn't enough to adjust in the games. 1st game used Sure Lock, 2nd game purple urethane and 3rd game Hy-Road. I didn't find a mark to hit in the pocket.

Time for one month vacation and leave on Dec 19th and back on Jan 23rd, 2019. I will bowl in Singapore and Udon Thani, Thailand with my girlfriend Nee.

Been struggling to score the last few weeks. Hitting pocket wasn't an issue, but carrying was. One week I think I had 15 ten pins. Decided last night to take my new Intense Fire out of my bag. It hooks quite a bit and I wasn't using it anyway. Grabbed my old Blue Vibe out of my closet. Got to bowling a few minutes early and stopped in the pro shop. I went to a tournament a couple months back and had the Vibe in my back seat. Forgot about for a few days and it rolled around a bit an was a little dirty looking. Had the guy just do a quick clean up on. He had it little duller than I like, but it had a nice fresh surface. Anyway I used it and went 194-300-237. It's been a while, but I finally got my 10th one.

Universal Lanes. Thinking about it over the weekend, I had the front 10 there over 25 years ago with a Burgundy Hammer and left a 10 pin. Kind of a little revenge. I was unbelievably nervous. I really wanted to hit double digits though. Took a nice deep breath before I got on the approach. Took one more as I set up and told myself to just throw it right. I did and it was a no doubter.

Bowled my first complete league set with 15 lb balls tonight.  I had 216 the first, finishing with 5 strikes, 188 the second while we endured multiple equipment malfunctions, and 278 the third because, despite the recurring malfunctions, I was too tired to roll more than one ball per frame.  682 total scratch.  My average going in was 199 so I'm guessing I just hit 200. ( P.S.  For the first time ever we got our standing sheets the same night we bowled.  Most likely because due to repeated malfunctions we finished 45 minutes after everyone else, and the league secretary was sitting waiting for us.  My league average is now 201, making me the 4th highest and also the 4th oldest at 69 almost.)

Sunday my son Paul and I bowled the Continental Clash at Continental Lanes in Kalamazoo. This is a series of tournaments run twice a month throughout the bowling season. The lane pattern was a house shot. It's a 3 game qualifier and a 5 team step-ladder.

Paul bowled 680 and I bowled 752. With our 42 pins handicap we shot 1,474. We earned top seed for the step-ladder. In the step-ladder we were giving up 13 pins handicap. We had to win one match which we did 399 (me-195+Paul 204) to 378 (168+197+13). So now we have qualified for the Tournament of Champions event on April 27th. We won $375 a piece for the tournament win and $100 each from brackets.

This was a totally unexpected great day for us. We can't wait for April 27th.

So far this league season been very up and down, but finally had some success. Threw my first sanctioned 300 using an ebonite 8 ball that a friend gave at the start of season.

Bowled 213, 300, &190 for 703 series.

Two days ago: I bowled 183-289-227 = 699 series one shy of 700 series. Khun Paul failed to reach first 700 after left 2-4-7 at 12th frame 3rd game. 2nd game left 10-pin at 1st and 10 strikes in a row. Lucky messenger strike on 10th and left 4-pin at 12th. First time my new highest game record 289 shy of 290. Broke my old high game recordwas 279 back in 2014.

Yesterday was the last day of the year for the adult-child league I bowl in with my son.  It's also our last year in the league after ~9 years...he turns 18 this summer.  [eek]

For the first time this year our league didn't sanction...manager decided that since it would only be a 15-week league it wasn't worth it.  Never asked anybody about it, a few people were unhappy.  Whatevs, not a big deal to me.  However, for reasons that make no sense to me, we had TWO position rounds at the end of the year.  This resulted in a 16-week season, but I digress.

We were in second place by 6 points before position round 1.  Won all 8 points last week, moved into 1st by 2 points.  Yesterday we bowled the same team on the same pair for position round 2.  Needed to take 4 points to win the league.  Won the first game handily, lost the second game handily, had a 24 pin lead in totals going into game 3.

Game 3 was pretty tight...the low-average girl on the other team got a few marks and threw a high (for her) game.  My son bowled well too, shot 208 or so.  The other dad and I went at it, going back-and-forth with strikes.  Him with his resin ball, me with the Gold Angle.  A little crowd formed on our pair to watch what was becoming a pretty good match.  I got up in the 9th frame, buried it, left a 7-pin.  He struck.  We were on the ropes...knew we were going to lose the game but if they helped us out, we could get totals and win the league.

The little girl opened in the 10th.  My son struck and spared.  Only chance we now had for totals was if the other dad screwed up.  I strike on the first ball, he leaves a 10-pin and breaks off his string at 6 strikes.  He then whiffs the 10-pin, giving me the chance I needed.  I proceeded to strike out, we lose game 3 but take totals by 12 pins and win the league.  [thumb]

Ended up shooting 705 with the Gold Angle after having 715 or so last week on the same pair with the black Angle (and this is my least favorite pair in the hall to boot).  Ended up with around a 222.5 average for the season throwing only pancake-block urethane.  I'm happy with that...and my son ends his junior career a champion.
