We always brag and talk about shooting high scores and series, but I thought I'd turn it around and see how people chime in to this:

What is the lowest score and series you have had?

For me (and I'm only counting my career in the adult leagues), they both were in the same set.  I shot 127 in a 520 series during the 1994 season.  This particular night, my father (may he rest in peace) came to watch me bowl.  I was averaging about 214 at the time.  I think I was trying extra hard to impress him.  Obviously, it didn't work, and I bowled miserable.  It was the first time he watch me bowl as an adult, and the last.

I don't recall the series I had with it, but I know I shot a 129 in a scratch tourney several years ago.  Third game of a 10-game set, so I was able to come back and make the finals.  The first two games, if I remember, were around the 170-180s mark.  I just couldn't find a shot with the equipment I had.  I borrowed a left-handed friends Phantom, broke my wrist back a little, and stroked it up the first arrow trying to find a line, and it worked.

On May 20, 1983, I shot 110, 113, 158 for a whopping 381 series. I was averaging 158 going into the night which was the final night of the season. I finished at 157. I was so pissed off at our team captain, it affected my game. This was the last time I ever shot under 400 in either league or practice. It was also the last time someone on the team affected me this much. Not only did I leave this league after this night, but also the house, never to return except for some occasional open bowling.

The worst time I can remember in a league was when I was in high school and bowling in the local junior traveling league. One week we bowled at an old 12-lane (6 upstairs, 6 downstairs) center, and they apparently had it in for us, as they doused the lanes with oil from stem to stern. Keeping in mind that resin didn't exist back in '85 or '86 or whenever this was, nobody could bowl in that soup. There were some kids not even hitting 100. I seem to recall shooting a 107 or 111 or something along those lines...I might have the actual scores recorded someplace.

Then there was the time in early '85 in the local high school league. I was fortunate enough to break some school/league records, bowling a 290 and 258 one day (league was 2-games/day, bowling twice a week). Got lots of accolades and the such. The next match, I shot a pair of 120-something games. Oops.

The worst game I had was a 108 and the worst series I've had on league was a 445 series (108, 137 and 200). I was coming off the flu that week and was not very good at all.

I recall, in my first full year in the 'adult ' ranks, shooting 223, 106, and 128 in the mens league I started in. I didn't have a clue what happened in the 223 game, because IT was horrible too.

Gee,...thanks guys. I had forgotten that debacle until this thread!

My worst game and series are: 121 and 450.  Everything that could go wrong, did.

I found the tally card!

On February 9th, 1985, in the Rochester junior traveling league at East Side Lanes here in Rochester NY, I threw games of 89, 111, and 108 for a 308 series.  At the time (I had just turned 15), I was apparently averaging 166.

Kinda sad looking at this tally sheet....of the 13 different centers we bowled in that season, only 3 of them still exist.

Ehhh... I think I had a 120 game in a tournament last year. Wasn't my greatest showing that day to say the least.

good topic Keith,

This is easy.  It was last year, early into the season.  My avg at the time was 192.  I shot a whopping 129,111,118 for 358 series.  In my defense,  the anchor bowler from the other team just cleared 400 series. (he has multiple 300's).  The lanes we had were burnt in the front with all the oil carrying down at the pin deck.

That reminds me...I don't remember the scores, but my very first tournament (my first year in Jr-Sr leagues) we went to Des Moines.  Apparently they had soaked the lanes the year before and everybody complained about it, so this year they didn't oil them AT ALL.  No joke, the minute the ball hit the lane it was going left.  It was impossible to score on that, especially since I had no idea at the time of what to do (I could have moved deep and thrown harder and swung it out but, as I said, it was my first year and I had just started throwing  a hook ball, so I didn't know any better, lol).

I don't think anyone on my team broke 400 that day in any of the events.  I doubt anyone broke 500 all day, to be honest.

Let's just say I was bowling in a pair of casts on my legs (not broken) and I had to bowl in a special type of sandal.

I started with a 507 series in league this year (the handicap league).  Needless to say I'm about 30 pins higher now but that was a real sucky night when I couldn't carry anything and left all sorts of 9-counts.
