Didn't UCLA in those days have two long NCAA championship streaks in a row separated by one year of being beaten?

UCLA won back to back in 64,65 with Hazzard and Goodrich. Lost conference in 1966, Then won 7 straight when Jabbar came on as a soph (frosh werent eligible in those days). Came back from loss in Waltons last year to win again, but never had a streak after that.

I was in college during Jabbar era, and saw all those teams.

I think they had another streak that was stopped by Houston ? With Elvin Hayes.
If not a streak it was a big game.

Houston with Hayes beat UCLA in a mid season matchup during Jabbars soph season. It was the first loss for UCLA with Kareem. However UCLA came back and crushed Houston in the final 4 that year to gain their second straight title.

UCLA won in 1964, 1965, then from 1967 to 1973, then one more time in 1975.  That's quite a run!  10 out of 12 years being champs.

Wooden was really a special Teacher
One former player said in an interview that every season at the first practice Coach would tell them how to put their socks on. The entire team Seniors included.

One good thing we got from UCLA was Denny Crum. He was supposed
to replace Wooden when he retired but he liked it here so much he stayed

Wooden got a lot of help from Sam Gilbert, the San Diego car dealer. UCLA players always drove in style.

Does anyone remember the RB at Cal that admitted years later that he never attended one class.
