I haven't seen Fordman (Dennis) on our board in quite sometime.  Was surprised when the Gavie tournament came up, that I did not hear from him.  Chris and I were just now speaking about him.  I looked and the last time he was on was June 8.  I happen to check the Detroit News obituaries, and I was sad to see that he did indeed die on June 20, 2019.  Thank goodness I was able to meet him when we all bowled the Gavie last year.  I now feel blessed that I was able to meet him in person last year.  My impression was he was a guy who did not embrace technology.  He still carried a flip phone with him, and probably had a rotary dial phone at home, lol.  He was a good guy and a solid member of this forum for over 10 years, and will be missed very much.

Dennis L. Madden

Dearborn, Michigan

May 3, 1946 – Jun 20, 2019

Entered into rest on June 20,  2019.  Age 73.  Beloved husband of Cathleen for 51 years. Loving father of Bryan, Rebecca and Jennifer.  Dearest grandfather of Rachelyn, Alison, Anthony, Stevie, Charlie and great-grandfather of Ariella and Vincent.  Dennis proudly served in the United States Army and later retired from the Ford Motor Company.  In his spare time Dennis could be found bowling at Ford Lanes, trying for that perfect 300 game  which he obtained numerous times.  He also enjoyed watching sports, especially a good football or baseball game. He enjoyed relaxing in his recliner while watching a good show and also working on computers.  Dennis will be remembered for his great humor, his witty comments, his corny dad jokes and especially the absolute love that he had for his entire family. A memorial gathering will be Tuesday, June 25th from 12-9 p.m. at the Dearborn Chapel of the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 22546 Michigan Ave.

This is from the 2018 Gavie in Detroit at Thunderbowl Lanes in the Arena, Me, Fordman in the hat (Dennis), The Big Cat in front, Marc, the other Mark (Hailmaizeandblue), and Spinbowler300 (formerly AMFman) Ed.

That was a fun time, I'm sorry we didn't get to bowl this past year.  Maybe in 2020?

I also had noticed the absence of Fordman over the summer.  Never knew his last name until now.  He had posted from time to time about the aches and pain of getting old, but otherwise seemed in decent health.  I always enjoyed reading his comments about administering a large high-end league.  His one-liners on these pages were often classic -- especially those directed at young tech-addicted people with a phone constantly glued to one hand.

It's a sad day...wish we had known sooner.  He was a long-time member of this forum and one of the primary instigators helping keep conversations...uh..."interesting".  😉  Definitely gonna miss that guy.

I think his grouchy remarks were a put on. I bet he'd do anything
if you needed help. I liked him and never met him.

Only met him once (at the Gavie), but he seemed like a really nice guy.

I hope there is bowling in heaven for him.

I'm bummed to hear this.  He was really gruff and told it just the way he felt, but I always liked reading his opinions; and he made me smile numerous times.

RIP Fordman, you will be missed.
