If you weren't living within 5-6 blocks of 12th street you wouldn't have known anything happened.  Except for the 8 P.M. curfew.  Had to drive to Flat Rock (Monroe County) to buy beer.  I worked in Woodhaven a short distance from Flat Rock and the store there sold more booze in one day than he normally did in a year.  Line wrapped around the building and beer trucks lined up to unload.

I lived about 2-3 miles west of there and never saw any fire or smoke or heard any gun fire.  It was a local riot mostly.  Like most it was just an excuse to steal from local businesses and burn them afterwards.

After the riot it was like the Titanic everyone who could afford to left.  Mostly white flight.  The new Mayor Coleman Young did the rest.

There you go controversial enough?

I am in the minority I guess.  Bowled in a small tournament Friday and Saturday night.  100+ people Friday and over 80 Sat.

It is for people who entered the Texas holdem games during the year.  They have 2 events in June, July and Aug.  1st Place was $600
And if you made all 3 cuts Friday you made $115 Sat was $85.  Not bad for hitting you average.

They had 15 side boards both nights.  Paying $110 each.
Mysteries on Friday were $418, Sat. $297.
I won squat.......

We had the riots here 50 years ago bot probably nothing
what you experienced Fordman. They burned down a
nice little amusement park. New owner tried to reopen it
but being in a bad part of town it never caught on again,

Probably here like there it was idiots burning up their own
homes and businesses. Just another reason to loot. How some
things never change.

Like NFL, NBA, and NHL doing other things because it is off-season.

Many bowlers on a summer break and back to normal in fall.

I was not quite 3 years old when the riots broke out.

This wouldn't help the average recreational bowler, but it is useful for those who are just getting into leagues and are learning how to throw a ball properly.
