the name Dick Selgo peaks my interest.  There was a Dick Selgo that owned a bowling alley (Selgo Lanes) in Port Clinton, OH until it burnt to the ground in 1962 and he was quite the bowler in his day!!  He traveled the country and bowled in some big events back in the day.

This surely can't be the same person, can it?  He graduated from HS in the mid '40s which would make him about 90yrs old today if he is still alive!!

Selgo is from Ohio. Probably the son. Real good bowler...real nice guy.

I never knew him personally, but know of him and his family. He was a very respected man in Port Clinton.  I googled his name and there is a lot of cool information.

Dick Selgo SR. passed away in 2011 and there is indeed a Dick Jr..  The obituary is a very interesting read....

According to the PC athletics HOF article, he joined his father in the bowling business at one point.....so Dick Sr's father owned the Selgo Lanes that burnt in '62!!
(Dick Jr's grandpa)

We get some good Ohio bowlers at the tournaments. Steve Jacobowski, who's family has a bowling alley down there...Rick Parshen (don't know how to spell his name), who starts his approach with his back to the pins...some others...

A couple years ago I was high qualifier in one, and Selgo tied for the last spot, and won the roll-off, so I had to bowl him in the first game of match play. He lost one shot in the backswing, and the ball rolled back to me, while I was waiting to bowl. I picked it up, handed it to Dick, pointed to the pins, and said "that way".
Hilarious.
He beat me...not so hilarious.
