I'm very surprised that I can't find anything about this on the internet. But I didn't spend very long looking though.. Our local Men and Women's Bowling Association are having a very difficult time merging. I was just wondering if anybody else is having issues and would like to get some ideas. thanks so much for reading this

The Greater Detroit Bowling Association and the Detroit Women's Bowling Association merged into the Metro Detroit USBC back in 2005. It is the largest local association in the USBC. If it can merge together with very little fanfare, anyone can. I would recommend contacting the MDUSBC. I am sure they can give you ideas to solve any issues.

I always assumed when the ABC and WIBC merged every local association followed suit.

There are still a bunch not merged.  Power struggles and petty spats over everything.  There are many small local assns. that should become one.

That and people don't want to lose their cushy, gravy jobs.

Just like St. Clair Shores. A city of that size should not have three separate school districts with three separate school boards.

The Detroit merger between the Greater Detroit Bowling Association (GDBA) and the Detroit Women's Bowling Association (DWBA) was made easier because of a number of factors such as:
  • co-located in the same building for years
  • Association Manager of GDBA became the Secretary/Treasurer of the DWBA after a long-time retirement, thereby essentially "running" both for a year or two prior to the merge.
I don't believe that the merger with the local YABA went as smoothly, but I could be wrong.  Nonetheless, the overall merger became a reality pretty quickly.  The silos between the men/women had largely been removed, so things were able to move along.  The silos and "cushy" jobs, not to mention some of the "directors" losing their "power" goes a long way to making the process difficult.
