Our first and only year at Merri-Bowl is now over, as of last night.  Appears that Country Lanes has survived Jim's death, and is still in business.  The Tuesday league there is being resurrected, and of the 16 teams that moved over to MB from Country, 10 are going back, and we should have a competitive 16 to 18 team league.

To me, MB was a one year experiment, and now it is time to go back home.  I had one frame out of the season that summed up the experience.  I left the 3-5-6 spare.  Pins were on spot when the pinsetter picked them up, and when the pins were placed back down, the 5 and the 6 were spread out a little more off spot.  What did I do, I picked the 3 pin off with the ball going between the 5 and 6.  I'm sorry, that should never ever happen, unless the pins were moved off spot by other rolling pins, which was not the case.

Anyway, fare thee well, Merri-Bowl, and looking forward to next year.

Meanwhile, I have the national tournament next week, and then summer league.

Good luck to all this summer!

My Tuesday mixed league ended last night. We won the league championship. The league championship was based on total pinfall for all 3 games and we were giving away 139 pins per game in handicap.

We won the 1st game 794 to 776 giving us an 18 pin lead.

We lost the 2nd game 719 to 760 giving them a 23 pin lead going into the last game.

In the 3rd game we started out great with everyone striking. We lulled in the middle. We were within 20 pins of making up all that handicap after 5 frames and ended up winning by 31 pins for an 8 pin win for the championship. I struck out from the 8th frame through the 10th frame to seal the deal. We beat them 868 to 837.

It won't get us a lot of money, but it's always nice to win a league.

Winning never gets old.  Didn't someone famous say that?  Congratulations.
Both of my leagues determine the roll off winner by points 7 point system all year so why change it the last night?  One of the leagues split the first two games and the last one was won by ONE pin.  That was fun to watch.

Well, this league uses an 8 point system. It would be quite easy to get a tie of 4 points each forcing another roll-off of some kind. Therefore, total pins removes that from the equation. However, had we been bowling on the point system, we would have won 6 to 2 anyway.

We finished about six weeks ago and came in 2nd out of six teams.  We lost team seven due to non-payment.  It's a fun league, so the payout isn't much, but since I got almost all the high scores for the year, I managed to make back about half of my league fees in prize money.   I also got my first sanctioned 300 the final week of league.  Overall, a good year and it was nice to bounce back from a rough ending the previous year.
