I heard of a bowling alley in town who shall go unnamed here that opened up yesterday.  Currently, in Michigan, we are in stage 4 of the state reopening process.  Once we get to stage 5, Gyms, Theaters, Bowling Alleys, etc. could then open.  Because of the greater uptick in Covid cases in Michigan, the Governor did not take us to stage 5 on July 4, which was previously expected.  Despite this, the center still opened, and started their Summer doubles league.  31 teams showed up.  From what I understand, they used 16 pairs all in a row, no spacing.  There were no face masks worn into the place by anyone.  On Thursday, their winter league is reconvening to have their final week of bowling and payouts.  Probably 150+ people in that league.  The problem with all of this, it takes just one positive tested person to spread this around, and even worse, every other bowling alley in the city, who would love to open, has followed the rules and guidelines and stayed closed.  This creates unfair competition and puts health at risk.

What a shame that a minority of thoughtless people would put so many others at risk.  I see it every day here in Ky and four of our sons still live in Phoenix, putting them at great risk daily.

The owner of that center should be arrested by state police and the center immediately shut down.  And if any of the bowlers who showed up to bowl when it was open gets Covid and dies, the owner should be charged with involuntary manslaughter.

A doubles league can operate safely as long as everyone pays attention to their surroundings -- meaning always staying at least an arm's length away from other bowlers.  Two bowlers per lane would seem to be the maximum allowed at this time by that spacing requirement.

A league of 5-player teams coming back after four months makes no sense.  If it is just one week of bowling plus payouts, the bowling itself probably is a season-ending sweeper and totally unnecessary.  They should just skip the bowling and meet in a big parking lot.

Greetings from the North, one and all. Our local bowling alleys are still shut down here in Windsor, Ontario, and will be until further notice. The story about the bowling alley opening up against the Governor of Michigan's orders is pretty reckless. If the aforementioned league bowled on every other pair of lanes, and everyone was wearing a mask, then maybe I would approve, or at least understand. However, the way they went about it was careless. This stupid virus is very simply NOT the flu or a cold. It seems to have different effects on everyone, and it seems to me that this league is playing Russian Roulette. As Keith said, only one person could infect hundreds of people; that's all it would take. Now that we've learned that the corona-virus is airborne and 'aerosol' like, their opening and conducting league play just doesn't make sense. We're still in stage 2 here in Ontario, and Premier Doug Ford will be announcing our move to Stage 3 this week. Slow and steady until they find a vaccine, and make it law to wear a mask in any public place, or you don't get inside. Period. It's inconvenient and terrible for the economy, but i don't wanna get sick, or make anyone else sick. Stay safe and healthy everyone, and use common sense, I say.

I can see why their opening. How much longer can they last
with no income. Hope bowling doesn't become a thing of our memories
