Tornados ravaged South Georgia Sunday around the Columbus area. Here we see a news video showing a group of junior bowlers huddled behind the pinsetters at Fort Benning Bowling Center in Fort Benning, GA during the monthly GYBT. You'll recognize some of the kids in this video that you've seen on PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR -- Logan Mathis, Josh Collins (this is his home bowling center) and you may see Nick Dischinger in there. Lightning knocked out the power in the building and some of the scoreboard monitors were blown. Fortunately, the tornados spared the bowling center (no pun intended).
BTW -- Congratulations to PRODIGY Josh Collins, who took 1st place for the fourth month in a row in the U15 Boys.
GYBT Founder and Tournament Director Mike Bonzek posted the following message:
"I want to personally thank the bowling center management, Fort Benning alert system, all parents, all youth athletes for responding professionally and without panic to a difficult situation.
Reinforced my personal beliefs that bowling parents and the youth are really special people.
Sounds like everybody made it home safe and sound.
Thanks to all. You are good people."
I'm just glad everyone is safe and sound.
