Just got this email...what is the benefit of doing this now?   And how popular do you think the lifetime membership fees are going to be????

Dear Keith,

Thank you for being a member of the Metro Detroit USBC and the United States Bowling Congress.

Here's your chance to purchase your membership before the season starts and not worry about paying on the first league session. Standard membership fees are a nominal $20 annually and this covers as many leagues in the Metro Detroit USBC Association as you bowl in.

For those bowlers who wish to upgrade their membership to the Premium Award package the cost is an additional $15 for the season. This option will allow these members to receive a Crystal Award for an 11-in-a-row, 300 game and 800 series (limited to one per season in each category). Remember this is only an option.

Click here to print your individual membership application, remit a $20 check and you can mail it to us at:
MDUSBC
28200 Southfield Rd.
Lathrup Village, MI  48076

OR

Call us at (248) 443-2695 to sign up over the phone and pay with VISA, MasterCard or Discover.

MDUSBC is offering lifetime memberships at the following rates:

age 55 and older - $300

age 30 to 55 - $400

under age 30 - $500

Never pay standard dues again.

Members who purchase this option are eligible for a special polo shirt and a free Premium Upgrade the first year. Offer expires 7/31/2017.

I wish you the best in the upcoming season and as always if you have any questions feel free to contact us.

Sincerely,

Mark Martin

They have been offering the $15 upgrade for the last 2 years.  For the members like you Keith who earns all 3 every year it is a good buy.  For me not so much.  You can also buy them for $30 each.

The life time membership is for optimists at best.

Whether this is a good benefit depends on your age and future commitment to league and tournament bowling.

If you are 25 or 30, you would break even on fees at age 50, then anything else is a bonus.

If you are 65, you are gambling on being alive and physically able to bowl into your 80s.

Of course, the alternative is keeping that $300 in the bank and collecting 3 cents interest per year.  [biggrin]

You are also betting that they will survive another 20-25 years.  [mad]

I would recommend the upgrade for the good bowlers who shoot big scores every year.  The crystal awards are nice.  It is the only thing you can get for 11 in a row anymore.

Pony up $400...not on your life!  I've already got my 300 ring and 11 in a row crystal, so if I never happen to score another again, I'm content that I was able to do it at least once in my life. [smile]  I don't really need multiples of either award just sitting around.  Depends on how "serious" you are about bowling I guess.
