Hello everyone .. It's been awhile since I've posted.  Hope everyone has a wonderful season.  It's always fun returning on the first day of bowling.  Its like playing the lottery numbers.  Have these big dreams when you buy the ticket, but then, the numbers are picked and you win nothing....reality sets in .. LOL

Anyways, this will be the first season in a long time where I'm not starting injured and had a lot of practice over the summer (Thanks Brunswick for that 3 games, everyday for 3 months pass.  Best 26.95 I ever spent).

1. To remain 2 handed.  (first ball only).  I shoot a plastic ball at all my spares traditional one handed, thumb in the ball style, unless I'm going for some crazy split conversion where I need the ball to peel off.

2. Rack up some honor scores using this style. (was on the winning team in the New Haven Counties Championship this year so that was a start)

3. My Monday night team of all stars has broke up this year.  Not because we don't get along, but one got a girlfriend, one had to come out of retirement and get a part time job, and one is moving to Maine and will only be here for another 9 weeks...Sucks because we really did bowl well as a team and could coach each other, but anyways I was drafted on to a new team.  They were a team in the league that lost one bowler and I took his place.  So I hope I can perform to their expectations.  I was the anchor on my Monday team but I don't want to be the anchor on the new team.

4. Cash in some NEBA Tourneys .. not win but make the cut.  I've found that most of these NEBA's, everyone is as good as you.. nobody misses, It's more of a carrying contest.

5. Post more at mrbowling300.net ... he he he .. Yep, I'm back from that ride down to hell.  It was a long 3 years but I'm finally at peace with all that has happened over the time period (for those of you who don't know me, I wasn't in jail)

6. Improve avg by 10 pins and total spare 98% made.  ( if anyone has done any bowling stat app reviews on this site, please post a link for me. Something I would like to see is percent of spares made that weren't splits.  would hope the app could provide a break down of this)

Good luck Folks and looking forward to an awesome season!!!

No link, but I've downloaded and tried seemingly every bowling stat app there is for the iPhone and the winner and still champion in my book is Pin Pal.  It's also available for Android.  A little pricey at $9.99, but worth it.  (There's a free "lite" version, but its limitations make it unusable.)  For iPhone, it's on the App Store.  The guy used to have a website, but it's down.  I was concerned that he was no longer updating it, but I finally got him to respond to an email a few months ago and he was working on an update at the time to correct something that broke in iOS 8.2.  Not sure if he's yet pushed out that update, but it was an odd little problem that only affects those who need to set up a league that bowls a different number of games each week than 3.  (And there's a workaround until he fixes it.)

The only thing I wish he'd add is the ability to generate scoresheets WITH PINDICATORS.  (You can generate a scoresheet, but it doesn't show which pins you left each frame.)  But the statistical analysis available on this app is by far better than the others, and the ease with which you input the data (sliding your finger across the pins to "knock them down," rather than having to tap, lift, tap, lift, tap, lift your finger for each individual pin probably doesn't sound like a huge deal, but it is.  When you use the thing as much as I do, that's hundreds of thousands, maybe millions, of individual taps and lifts of the finger over the course of several years.

I've tried 'em all.  Pin Pal is not the most expansive of these types of apps (one called Scoreboard is probably the most expansive with various options), but Pin Pal has the best, most useful stats, and has the simplest interface to use.  It just makes sense.

If the centers you bowl in are equipped with X Bowling, I would try that app. Automatically logs each ball (pin positions included) live using the internet, and the paid version is jammed full of statistics for you. Last I saw they were still the official statistics provider of the USBC.

I use 'My Lane Play' app to keep my bowling stats.

I believe it costs right around $9. It's not a free one.
