Contact Columbia 300.  I'm sure they can look it up and tell you exactly the age of the ball.

During the 70's the first number indicated the vintage of the Columbia ball.  A 4 would mean the ball was from 1974.  Not sure how the numbering worked after 1980, so this isn't much help.

This sure looks like a 1974 vintage ball.

Judging from the box and the logo on the ball, I might tend to agree.  But there's one tell-tale marking that causes me to raise an eyebrow.  The old, original balls had white engraving, not gold.  If you contact Columbia to ask about this, I would definitely mention that to them.  It may have been a special run.

I just did a quick looksie on eBay and there are tons of vintage White Dots with gold lettering. Nothing special about it.
