Did any of you guys bowl any action match's (head to head for money) there's only one website that features the greatest action bowlers from the 1930s to present. http://www.ActionBowlers.com

A lot of the top pros were big time action bowlers, such as Mark Roth, Norm Duke, Pete Weber, Chris Barnes, Rudy Revs, Johnny Petraglia, Ernie Schlegel, Mike Limongello, and many, many, others.

If you think you would enjoy watching video stories about Action Bowling, check out this link...

billytops,

first of all, welcome to the board.

second of all, I've enjoyed ActionBowlers.com for quite sometime now. Is ActionBowlers.com your site?

Pot bowling seems to be a lost thing these days. I used to bowl for money in my earlier days, but no one seems to do this here that much anymore.

Welcome to the forum, billytops. As stated, pot bowling has kind of gone the way of the dinosaur. It seems that 'brackets' and 'eliminators' have become the 'action' of choice nowadays, with the occasional side bet thrown in as a bonus. These quick, easy formats allows you to gamble while you're bowling league.......how convenient!

For real competition there's nothing like bowling a head to head match for a descent amount of cash...

Here's a link to a video story of the very first action match my buddy butch bowled.

I love bowling for money, and miss the days when I'd be at the lanes till about 3am, back when I was able to stay up late and still function the next day.  Those days, to quote the late great Ernie Harwell, are Long Gone!

I loved butch's story about back in the 50's and all the action bowling he and all those guys did back then. I would have love to have been alive to see what it was like back in those days.

Ricky--- what action are you talking about in CT???  theres no real action anymore like there used to be.  the nights where milford would stay open till 3 am on a wednesday night so johnny chang could make some cash.

Homefield bowl in yonkers ny has some decent action on saturday nights that get some guys from NJ and NY.

sorry for the delay in getting back.....been very busy with radio the last 2 months....I was referring to hopping on the ferry and going to Center Reach.  also.....Milford AMF....those days are gone.  Remember when Milford use to be run by BOWLERS!!!!......now they got people running that place that no nothing about bowling.   There are a handful of guys out here that still bowl action.  We had late night pot bowling on Mondays during the winter @ Wallingford Bowl.  Got to bowl against Willie Willis...that was fun.

Like the people at Bowl-Tech call them...the 82-turdy's! Still amazing pinspotters. Cove Bowl in Great Barrington, MA still has them.
