The masters is going on this week in Las Vegas.  First round of 5 qualifying games is complete.

Here's the standings after 5 games:

Do you have to get invited to bowl in this or just pay the entry?  I looked a few state guys up and was under impressed.

Not sure what the criteria is now, but it had always been open to anyone with a 190 average in league.

Masters is totally open to those can pay the entry fee and breathe.

US Open was like this with a total open field for years.

I noticed Arnie Goldman is bowling in this event! The league bowlers who are amateurs really seem to be struggling. Has to be a very challenging pattern....whether it is on the fresh or the burn.

Havent bowled Masters since 2000, but back then the shot wasnt a lot tougher than the regular nationals . In fact I averaged more in Masters qualifying than I did in regular ABC tourney a couple of times.

The scores may not tell the whole story.  For those who don't know, Solomon Salama, the overnight leader after Round One, who currently sits in 2nd place after Round Two, is a two-time Junior Gold champion who is currently 16 YEARS OLD!!!

Let that sink in for a minute.

The standings after 15 games of qualifying....only one 300 game, by Marshall Kent, out of the nearly 6,750 games bowled by the field of 450.  Pretty impressive.

Never heard of him.

LOL

Yup, got my head kicked in out here. If you weren't throwing urethane on the fresh, you were asking for trouble.

But next year, I'm working even harder. Yes, I'll be back. The only thing that will stop me is a possible move to Vegas for work.
