I am trying to watch the PBA round of 16 with Wes and Jakob, and the idiots in the audience haven't shut up and sat down yet.  I can't hear the announcers over the screaming and chanting.  Is this what bowling has degenerated to?  No thanks.

That's like in the late 90s, they decided to have the fans make continuous noise and clapping. It was irritating and fake.

The center where they're having that tournament is in Maine and is known for being a boisterous place.  I watched the first episode of that tourney and couldn't decide whether I liked their enthusiasm or not.  When some guy yelled in the middle of Rhino Page's 9th frame delivery after he had the front 8 and screwed him up, I knew I was done with it.

I just watch it with the volume really, really low. Which is also good for removing Rob and Randy from the telecasts, too. You don't need sound to watch bowling.

They have a guy standing out of view telling them to yell or what to chant.  That doesn't qualify as rude.  Maybe a little silly but not rude.  They are just trying to get low attention people to watch.
(young people)  You can spot them just look for the people looking down, or watching looking at a screen rather than the bowler.

So standing and shouting, or chanting, just because some jerk is telling you to isn't rude?  I call BS on that.  They wouldn't tolerate that kind of behavior in any other sport that required the level of concentration bowling does.  The fact that it is young people being rude isn't comforting or excusable.

Pay attention the people who run the PBA are the ones pushing the noise.  They are doing it to attract the short attention span of young people who have their nose in a cell phone constantly.

Randy Peterson, I really liked watching him bowl, but I think his commentary is horrible. It's like he's trying to audition for a local comedy show. It's really makes me cringe sometimes, the things he says, omg. And yes, the crowd noise is awful, and rude.

Yes it is awful but it is what they (THE PBA) want.  It isn't the fans it is the jerk who runs the PBA.  Rude is when everyone is quiet and one jerk yells when a guy is in his approach.  Yes Randy isn't funny and that isn't what he is paid to do.  Or maybe it is?

I watch bowling for bowling, not for the announcers, or the crowd.  If the format gets in the way of actually seeing quality bowling, why watch?  I can go on Youtube and watch bowling back to the 50's and see real competition, not a freak show.

Exactly. It's become a joke like the nuts that holler in
the hole at golf tourneys

Honestly, when I watch new PBA tournaments on YouTube I fast forward between shots so I don't have to listen to the announcers.
