Week 3 of left handed bowling.  Entering average 98.  I shot 90, 117, 98 for 305.  I haven't had a chance to practice yet and it shows.

Yesterday, my son and I kicked off the first week of our pre bowling. I'll be attending school on Thursdays, so we'll be pre bowling on Wednesday for a few weeks.  I'm still in the process of relearning how to bowl.  My scores were 132, 166, and 144.  I just can't seem to hit the pocket.  I'm leaving a lot of wash outs and tough splits.  My son did ok, but we'll see if it was enough to win a single game.  There's always next week.

236,234,247 for a solid 717 last night. 5/5 on single pin spares which keeps me at 100% for the season on those. Had back to back splits early and those were my only two opens for the night.

So last night was week #2 of our league and the center's new-to-them oiling machine.  Lanes were reoiled Wednesday evening.

Lanes came on for practice, I threw a ball around the track area (I'm a lefty)...and I picked the 10-pin.

The righties started practicing, and their balls were picking the 7-pin.

Obviously they haven't quite figured out how to use the machine yet.  [frown]

The mechanic dragged the machine back out.  We stopped practicing and they reoiled the lanes.

Even after the reoil I had a hard time keeping my polished black Angle on the left side of the lane, even if I left the oil on the ball (a trick you can use with non-resin balls to kill some of the hook).

So after last week's stellar 495, I managed 496 this week.  Oof.

The mechanic spent the entire night tinkering with the oiling machine and eventually reoiled lane 1 (we only use 3-8 for our league).  While I was waiting around for everybody else to finish (a "benefit" of being league secretary), he came over and asked me to suit back up and test out lane 1.  The machine now puts out a shot where I can throw a fairly aggressive ball around 7-8 board and it walks up nicely to the pocket.  If I understand what he said he did to the machine, it would appear he quadrupled the amount of oil being applied to the left side and is oiling longer (43 feet I think).

With the oiling machine problem apparently now fixed, I may actually be able to score like an adult next week.  :|

That's where my high school coach threw 30 strikes in a row...

This is our latest league sheet for Tuesday.  Our league average is about 207.  22 team league, we are bowling at a different house this year, Merri Bowl Lanes.  My team could be doing a little better.  We are down from a team average of 1078 to 1000 this year, and 3 of our players are down further but are limited because of the drop 10 rule.

Is the shot harder or are you having a hard time adjusting? What ever happened
to the bowling alley Aleta Sills was supposed to be buying?

She did end up buying it and has put a ton of hard work into it fixing it up. Unfortunately some leagues did leave during the time it closed and the uncertainty if it would reopen. Something tells me they'll fill those slots in time and it will be a busy center. Sounds like it's doing really well so far.

The shot has been a little bit more demanding, but certainly playable.  I've been having trouble with the 2nd game transition.  If you know what the adjustments are, as the night goes on, you'll be good.  League average for 22, 5 man teams is 207.  That's down from 210, from what the league entering averages were.

Not sure about the health of Country Lanes.  They are still open, so that is a good thing.

I've been bowling better. Staying over 600 again. However, I've had my Motiv Trident Abyss for a week and half and it's just not doing anything for me. I feel like I have to help it to the pocket. I've been stubbornly using it for the last 4 league sessions with minimal success. Case in point, after shooting 171 with the Abyss last night I finally switched to my Motiv Jackal LE for games 2 and 3 and shot 233 and 245. Nice back end and I didn't have to force anything. Series total ended up being 649. Not bad considering my start.

I hate to say anything bad about the Abyss, but I'm not seeing what others say it should do. I'm having the wife drop it off at the pro shop Thursday and possibly having it plugged and redrilled. The current layout is just not working for me.

We took 6 of 8 points. Guess which game we lost?

I bowled a little bit better yesterday than last week. My scores were: 170, 157, 159.  I'm still not getting to the pocket consistently which is my problem.  In doing so, spares are not possible when I'm constantly leaving splits.  Oh well, there's always next week.
