Yes, 5 man teams.  We go to North Hill next week.  It's out of the way for me, so I will probably skip out.  Our roster is 8, so as long as we have 5, and at least 1 other to sub, then that's good enough.

217,220,213 for a 650. It was single pins galore last night. Every ball in the bag, every adjustment...was just one of those nights.

Felt good to hit the pocket all night though! 14/14 on those single pins...so I didn't give anything away. Team took all 9 points.

Last night:

My son:  85, 97, 76
Me:  144, 215, 164

We split 2-2.

The first and last games were a total mess.  I left way too many washouts and splits.  The second game everything actually came together which led to a clean game.

The comeback continues.....

Everything got back to normal, so bowled a little better, 208, 160, 205 for a 573 series. Everyone on our set lost their shot in the second game. Still early in season, 33 more weeks to go lol

Week 2 of left handed bowling.  Entering average 89.  I shot 100, 102, 120 for a whopping 322.  I guess it is an improvement when your series is above what you can get in one game.  Only one decent strike but less gutters than last week due to my pushing the ball up the lane.  Not good but Rome wasn't built in a day.

Started bowling in a local scratch league with my high school bowling coach (some of you know who that is) as well as my Monday night work league at the old Hilton.

After an auspicious start on Monday nights with a 677, I came crashing back down to earth this past Monday with a 550...LOL

But I saved the scores for the scratch league, shooting 234 203 208 on the Chameleon 39 pattern tonight.

Just re-learning how to relax after a incident back in May where something happened that I don't want to talk about here. Bowling is fun again 😉

I went bowling with my son Kenny on Friday. I'm a bronze level coach and he's a sliver level coach. I told him I couldn't figure out by myself why I could throw a great shot in the pocket one or two frames and the next frame it goes through the nose. This was the reason I was struggling so much. I said that multiple times in our 5 games. He gave me no help while we were bowling.

Later at dinner with with Kenny and my wife I tell her the same thing. Kenny finally says he knows what my problem is. I say, "What?" He says, "You're elbow is flaring out on those bad shots and that's why it's going high." I said, "So, why didn't you say something at bowling?" He says, "Because I wanted to beat you." And he did 4 games to 1.

So, this happened last night. Yes, I did thank him. Also, thanks to all of you for your words of encouragement.

its always good to have someone who knows your game, and can spot little things that make a difference.

Last night I finally hit around average in regular league play, 244-196-238.  My second game I thought was my best, but couldn't carry a freak'n 10 pin on the left lane for anything. ....I adjusted the third game!  =)

Nice rebound Edward!

Have you ever bowled at North Hill Lanes?  That's where the All Star Travel league is heading tonight.

228,191,269 for a 688.

Our opponents anchor shot 842 (287,287,268) it was his 2nd 800 of the week as he shot one in another league on Monday. Coincidentally, this was the same team I fired my 847 against a few years ago.

Team took 5/9, so a win. I have also been 100% on single pin spares for the season thus far. 24/24 on those.

I know where North Hill Lanes is, but I've never bowled there.

I'm disappointed the All-Stars are not coming to Astro Lanes this year. They have the room.

Well, I had another abysmal night on the lanes. 144, 164, 155.  My game right now is downright terrible.  My son was consistent, but still we couldn't even manage to win a single game.  The other team took advantage of this and steamrolled us.  My comeback is not looking good at the moment.

Last evening was the first night of my men's league at Parkview (ie: the 8-lane mom-n-pop center).  In the past the lanes were oiled and stripped by hand, but the owner splurged and bought a used Kegel oiling machine over the summer.  After the USBC rerated our league last year so we're now a "sport shot" league, he really wants to improve the shot/scores.  I was the only lefty bowling last night.

I've averaged about 210 there over the years. I shot 495 last night.  Let that sink in for a minute.

Turned out that the oiling machine was broken...it wasn't putting oil down on the left side so my ball (an original AMF Black Angle, the weakest ball I had with me) was flying crosslane.  Tried moving inside and swinging it as well as rifling it down the outside...nothing helped.  Even leaving the oil on the ball to try and kill the hook didn't really help.  I managed to strike the last 5 balls of the night, otherwise the disaster would have been even worse.

I'm told the machine is now fixed and the shot will be better for us lefties next week, but they don't have the machine zeroed in yet and are still playing with oiling lengths and amounts.  We'll see what happens.
