I'm subbing on a team for the Detroit Travel All Star league this year.  Last night got asked to bowl, and we were at Rose Bowl Lanes, the only AMF owned center in the Detroit area.

Shot 277-202-177 for 656.  Front 8, solid 7 game 1, which was high game, so that was a nice honor in that league.

In my other league, week 1 was this past Tuesday.  I missed as I had a conflict, Niall Horan concert with my daughter.  Thought we started after Labor Day.  It was very hot in Detroit that day, and the house we are at Merri-Bowl, their air conditioning was broke.  Heard it was stifling hot in their, sticky approaches, and lots of complaints.  It was also our first week bowling at that venue, after moving from Country Lanes.

First night in the Commercial league was uneventful, but good to be back.  191, 235, 212.  Nice to see the guys again.  Scratch league starts tomorrow.

It was week 2 for us last night, but my first week in the new Merri Bowl Tuesday Classic league.  Not the start I had wished for.  183-211-176 for 570.  Had my trouble with throwing a consistent shot.  This THS played really wet dry.  It was super hot in the place as well.  Team took 2 of 10, we are 4 of 20 on the season.  Gotta hope for better things next week!

A good start to the season: 222,230,279 for a 731. Had the front 9 in the final game and left a solid 10 on the tenth shot. Couldn't throw it any better, just one of those breaks.

Last night, my son and I bowled in league for the first time in 3 years.

My son: 123, 112, and 87.
Me:  145, 194, 161.

My son did ok, but I couldn't really get anything going.  I was all over the place.  Oh well, the season is long; therefore, we'll both improve.

It's good to be back bowling though!

First night in league, couldn’t really get anything going, 176, 167, 188 for 531.

think it was the late start, everyone was frustrated with rules, mainly handicap, we settled on 90% of 230. At one point 100% of 230, even 115% of 230 was brought up. They were talking about some study that usbc did over that last 4 years that said the higher the handicap the more in favor of the lower bowlers.

I suck. I've bowled once in my each of my 3 leagues and I have not bowled a 600 series yet. Not the start I had hoped for.

This past Tuesday, I shot 259-204-248 for 711.  The most amazing thing was I never used my plastic spare ball, which means I never left a 7 pin, or anything on the left side.  I can't remember anytime ever that my plastic stayed in the bag!

Tonight is week 3 of the Detroit Travel All Star League...this week, we are at All Star Lanes in Walled Lake.

It's been very hot out, which makes for tougher bowling.  I struggled to open the season as well.  I think it will get better for both of us!

How many teams is that league down to? All Star is a small house.

Wasn't there an All Star Lanes or Bowl on the Sterling Heights/Utica border? I think it was at the end of Utica road at Van Dyke. I believe Weingartz sits there now.

Down to 10 teams.  All Star Lanes has 16 lanes.  They are wood lanes, which came from West Bloomfield Lanes.

Here is the current league sheet showing last weeks results:

I had no idea North Hill was still open. Shot very well there in my junior years. Apollo should be fun as well. Nice old school place, but not much room to move around. Still 5 man teams?
