I have been delving into older bowling videos and came across one in which they referred to Lynda Norry-Adams.  The tournament was 1995.  I have only known of Lynda Norry and Lynda Barnes.  I have been searching for info on Lynda Barnes trying to figure out who she was married to prior to Chris to have a hyphenated name in 1995.  So far I have had no luck.  Can any of you old guys fill me in?

Lynda A Norry born 10/7/1967 in San Jose California.  Was married is Married to Chris Barnes.  She lived in Wichita Kansas.  I couldn't find any record of an Adams.  Lynda Norry is Lynda Barnes.

I came up with nothing in my searches.  She had a tremendous amateur career, and later married Chris, but the interesting thing is her being mentioned by name and in the titling on the actual broadcast as Norry-Adams, and yet I can't find anything about a previous marriage.  I am a better than average researcher and it just fascinates me that I haven't found any other info.  Fred Borden is the color man and Irishpogi put it on Youtube and they both confirm her name at the time as being Norry-Adams

I also found the name but nothing about a marriage.  I found something about her mother being a Maruchi.  Spelling is wrong but you get the drift.  It was the same as the football coach.  I use Ancestry.

Just one more of those puzzling mysteries of life.  It's the little things that fascinate me the most.

You ever do a Ancestry dna test Fordman? I did one several years ago and about 6 months ago I found out thru Ancestry I had a half brother I didn't know about. Seems my mother that walked out on my sister and me had remarried and walked out on him when he was a few years old. She contacted me when I was 60 and never mentioned me having any brothers. Not exactly a mother of the year candidate.

Some times it hurts to know the truth.  My grand daughter's husband found out that his sister and him had a different father.  The parents never mentioned it and are still together in their fifty's.  Not sure if his father knew or not.  I am a big believer in knowing the truth.  Too many lies.

I found a few mentions of Lynda Norry Adams (without the hyphen), both in relation to the same tournament, the 1995 Womens US Amateur.

Since marriage and divorce are both matters of public record it is possible she was engaged but that marriage never happened. Therefore the marriage doesn't appear in any bio. For big tournaments you must send the entry months in advance. My guess is she entered the tournament under her (anticipated) new name, which became her name for that tourney.

That tournament is the only place I have seen a reference to Norry-Adams, which is what  started this whole search of mine,  Your explanation makes sense.  Not that it matters much if she was married before, just curiosity on my part.  Thanks.

Yes, Lynda HAD to have been married once, BEFORE Chris Barnes.

I first saw her in a bowling magazine article in 1987-88, named JUST Lynda Norry at the time. She was then a college student attending San Jose State University, hailing from Concord, CA (both in greater San Francisco).

Yours truly was then a young 22-23 y/o sailor aboard USS Shenandoah (AD-44) in Norfolk, VA, hailing from North Canton, OH.

She was (and still is) absolutely adorable; I was TOTALLY bummed at the time that she was attending school way over on the west coast, while I was stationed aboard a destroyer tender homeported on the east coast, with zero chance of meeting her back then.

I never knew Chris Barnes existed (other than the kid who played Tanner Boyle in the 1976 Bad News Bears movie), until some years after my January 1990 discharge.

I saw her that ONE time on TV in the mid 90's, going by 'Norry-Adams' then.

Perhaps Lynda had the Wayne/Becky Webb, Pete/Mary Couture, or Larry/Pam Laub experience, marrying someone who likely told their mate at some point they hate bowling and bowlers, only to be left responding with 'Well, that's great... Why did you marry me?'

I can affirm that BOTH Pam Laub and Mary Couture, as well as Becky Webb, always looked like they'd rather be somewhere else when the cameras where on them on PBA telecasts. I NEVER, EVER saw Betty Morris' first husband on any WPBA / LPBT telecasts over those years.

Betty and Larry are now spouses to each other.

CB's definitely one lucky guy... and so is Larry...
