(Hey, I'm bored...no bowling today, or tonight)
Is it, for example, the 3-6-10, 1-2-4, 5-9, etc.?

I would have guessed a diagonal is where the first bowler strikes in the 2nd, the second bowler strikes in the 3rd, the third bowler strikes in the 4th and the fourth bowler fails to strike in the 5th.....the fourth bowler just got hung.....diagonally.

Am I close?

that would work...
and, if it was a 4-man team, bowler #4 could get 'stuck' 3 times for not striking in one frame. he or she could shoot 279, and still get stuck 3 times...lol.
...if #1 strikes in frames 1, 4, and 7, #2 strikes in 2,4, and 6, #3 strikes in 3, 4, and 5...and the poor anchor bowler strikes in every frame except the 4th.
two diagonals, and one horizontal...
maybe more than one bowler could get 'multipled', too...but it's 7:00 a.m. here, and I need some more coffee...

I had no idea what beer frame meant.

I've seen it come up on the monitor, and figured it meant the bowling center was telling me it was time to buy a beer!!   LOL....but I only drink water when I bowl!!

The diagonal is correct............................

We even do the 10th strike...........................

Count the XXXXXXXXXXs and the next guy must strike. Save yourself and it goes on. Get to 15 and you pay double, 20 you pay triple. We have never gotten to 25.

You can get I think 5 hangs on one shot..................................

3,6,9 frame, with the beer hang, the diagonal and the 10th strike and miss single pin.

As I typed, we like to build our kitty...................and I also forgot...............team hang if no one Xs in a frame.

We typically top $1000 for the season. 32 weeks..........................about $6 a guy per night.

I just recently saw an interesting response to a beer frame.  As a beer frame can become very expensive,  this league has the bowler stuck in a beer frame surrounded by about 5 to 8 bowlers.  They just move in a rhythmic manner and say "you got stuck" several times.  They move back and forth and it is very entertaining to watch.

Personally, I don't care for those things done during league.   My current team does nothing and I'm quite happy about it.
